Rita & American Psycho
My family ended up evacuating their area for Hurricane Rita. 5 adults, 3 cats, in a one-bedroom apartment. I don't want to say anymore than that.
Although, I will say that I got off rather lucky in the number of people I was housing, considering I counted about twelve adults and numerous children in a guy's apartment across the way.
Other that, fortunately, my family don't have any damage they found on their return home.
We lost electricity for a whole day, and my neighbors started to come visit one after another. My brother and I went to one's place to play cards and drink beer. I was called a man-hater more than once. It was all very done very jokingly. And, to that I say, yeah right. Although, I don't accept that label, I was hating my neighbor quite a bit at that point. I was also goaded into acting like a man-hater, which I'm sure was his underlying purpose. So, no good. Also, I won the long-lasting poker game, and was cheered on by the other woman at the table.
As the man-hater that I am, I pulled out American Psycho and watched that today. How much do I love this movie? !!!!! The special features on the DVD, which I watched for the first time, are also really great. They delve into the psychological (and sociogical) satirical aspects that form the foundation of the film.
I think the strongest statement of how closely this film rides alongside the.. hmmm, how should I put this... money-grubbing, "sucessful," white men, and all those who agree that the image of success on the surface is really where it's at... men were actually approaching the writer/actress and saying "That movie is so cool - I AM Ptrick Bateman!" Whereupon she called them a dork. They so totally missed the point, adapted it to fit their warped perspective, and plus, hello!
WHO WOULD WANT TO BE THAT GUY?
You know that guy.
MOOD: I only write in this thing when I'm annoyed or flumoxed (sp?), so. I am also very tired.
SOUNDS: whirrrr

I've been called a man-hater a bzillion times. How is that when I also have a reputation for being a total slut :)
BTW, thanks ever so much for the link to that special t-shit. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.
Glad to hear all is well and your sense of humor is well intact.
That's supposed to say t-shirt, not t-shit. You'd never link me to shit, and on the freaky chance you did, I doubt I'd thank you for it.
Glad your family made it through the storm ok. We escaped damage here too. If that thing hadn't turned east we would have gotten plowed.
What's wrong with being a man hater? As a rule I hate them too, just love the one I'm with- lol.
Glad you and your family are all in one piece.
I've never been called a man-hater before, but I have been called a dyke a time or two.
